Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel

Avmax Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will provide expert guidance on all legal matters, ensuring the company's operations comply with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic legal advice to stakeholders on business development and commercial matters.
  • Create and implement standards and processes for drafting agreements, mitigating contractual risks, and aligning business processes with contractual obligations.
  • Support the company's interest in legal proceedings, including litigations, arbitrations, and hearings.
  • Manage legal risks effectively and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support to legal staff on legal inquiries and requests.
  • Source external legal support and manage contractual relationships as required.
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with clients, ensuring their legal needs are met with the highest level of professionalism.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Law (LLB) from an accredited Canadian university and current membership with the Law Society of Alberta.
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent business acumen and understanding of commercial agreements.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and team building skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite.
  • Must have a valid Canadian passport and 10+ years' experience in Corporate and/or Contract Law (Leasing and Financing backgrounds are preferred).
