Job Title: Teacher Grade 6-9 Position in Baker Lake

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Teacher Grade 6-9 to join our team at Jonah Amitnaaq Secondary School in Baker Lake. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Inuktitut Language Arts and Baking to students in grades 6-9.

Key Responsibilities:

* Teach Inuktitut Language Arts and Baking to students in grades 6-9
* Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of students
* Assess student progress and provide feedback
* Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives

Requirements:

* Bachelor of Education degree
* Teaching certification acceptable for Nunavut teaching certificate
* Experience and/or training with current assessment methods
* Evidence of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
* Experience and/or training in classroom management practices and the development of positive learning environments

Desired Qualifications:

* Cross-cultural and/or northern teaching experience
* Evidence of training and/or experience in the area of Balanced Literacy
* Training and/or teaching experience in an ESL environment
* Evidence/experience building positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, stakeholders
