About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Technologist to join our Technical Services team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As an Electrical Technologist, you will play a key role in supporting the Real Estate and Infrastructure Management Branch by providing technical expertise in electrical systems and approaches applied across a broad spectrum of infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide input to the Capital Planning process and assess existing infrastructure to identify areas for improvement.
  • Participate in the development of scopes for approved projects and provide design services within the capacity of the team.
  • Provide technical support to the project team during the tender, award, execution, and close-out phases of the project.
  • Contribute to the development of corporate standards that will support decision making and influence portfolio investment into the future.
Requirements
  • Completed an approved program as an Electrical Technician or an Electrical Engineering Technologist.
  • Eight (8) years of related experience.
  • Certified Electrician, Electrical Technician, or Technologist.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and approaches applied across a broad spectrum of infrastructure.
  • Superior skills in Electrical Design and relevant experience in using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Experience reviewing construction documents prepared by others to ensure alignment with the intended scope, clarity, and consistency with our established standards.
  • Project support experience - performing shop submittal reviews, general conformance reviews on site, and supporting project close-out.
  • Significant experience working with skilled Trades People, Construction Supervisors, Engineers, Design Consultants, and Architects.
