About the Role

The Grounds Maintenance position is an exciting opportunity to join the CMHC team at Granville Island. As a member of the Maintenance Department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the island is well-maintained and meets the highest standards of repair, cleanliness, and sanitation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform repairs to facility fixtures, including sinks, taps, toilets, window handles, and more.
  • Conduct landscaping, leaf blowing, and paving stone repair tasks.
  • Carry out woodwork repair, boardwalk, and bench maintenance.
  • Clean gutters, drains, and roofs as required.
  • Provide general cleaning services, including sweeping, pressure washing, and waste removal.
  • Represent CMHC and Granville Island in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist customers and tenants with inquiries and provide information as needed.
Requirements
  • Experience in building maintenance.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Safety knowledge as per Workers Compensation Board regulations and the Canada Labour Code.
  • The ability to adapt to changes and show initiative when needed.
  • Awareness of hazards and ability to work in a marine environment.
  • Other cleaning and maintenance duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Scissor lift experience.
  • Fall protection experience.
  • A WHMIS certificate.
