About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Press Operator to join our team at Magna Powertrain. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring that material, tools, and packaging are in place and ready for production.

  • Operate scheduled production equipment on a daily basis, ensuring that production targets are met.
  • Perform inspection of product produced by following internal and external established requirements, using standard and advanced measuring equipment.
  • Complete changeover and setup bolsters with the next scheduled dies, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Perform minor adjustments without assistance, maintaining a high level of productivity and part quality.
Your Responsibilities

As a Press Operator, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing die setup/press changeover according to schedule, ensuring efficient production.
  • Completing all production and quality documentation on time and as per requirement, maintaining accurate records.
  • Ensuring that the machine has a valid first off prior to start of operation, guaranteeing quality products.
  • Ensuring that error proofing devices are working and that abnormal conditions are being communicated to your Supervisor, maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Producing parts to close tolerances, specifications, on time, ensuring high productivity and part quality.
  • Stopping operation and reporting immediately any quality and health and safety concern to your Supervisor, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Compliance with legislative requirements, including but not limited to Section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Ensure TS16949 & ISO 14001 and ISO45001 compliance, maintaining a high level of quality and safety.
  • Awareness of all relevant Customer Requirements pertaining to your job function, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Treat your fellow workers as you would like to be treated, maintaining a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Follow guidelines, systems & rules as set out by your employee handbook & company policies, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Keep your workplace clean & tidy at all times, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Preferred Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education, ensuring a strong foundation in mathematics and science.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a press environment, with a proven track record of productivity and quality.
  • Sound knowledge of statistical techniques to identify process improvements opportunities, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Ability to use basic and advanced measuring equipment, ensuring accurate measurements and quality products.
  • Good documentation and organizational skills, maintaining accurate records and ensuring efficient production.
  • Valid Forklift and Crane Operator license, ensuring safe and efficient material handling.
