Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for working with students with Special Needs, specifically physical and intellectual disabilities and behavioural or other learning difficulties. As a professional and integral member of the school team, the Educational Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Providing individualized support to students with diverse needs
  • Assisting with lesson planning and implementation
  • Collaborating with teachers and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive learning environment
  • Communicating effectively with students, parents, and school staff

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have a strong commitment to providing high-quality support to students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with physical disabilities, including mobility and dexterity needs
  • Assisting students with intellectual disabilities, including those with autism and other developmental disabilities
  • Providing behavioral support and interventions to students with challenging behaviors
  • Collaborating with teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g. education, special education, child and youth care)
  • Experience working with students with special needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
