Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Park and Sports Field Operator in Norfolk County. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating various sports fields, parks, trails, and facilities throughout the county.

About the Role

This is a full-time position that requires a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will have a passion for maintaining high-quality outdoor spaces and providing exceptional customer service to our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and operate sports fields, including baseball diamonds, soccer pitches, bowling greens, and other recreational facilities.
  • Clean and maintain outdoor facilities, including players' benches, backstops, fence lines, and under bleachers.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment, such as grass maintenance equipment, tractors, trucks, front-end loaders, and water tanks.
  • Operate various tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Foster productive public relations and engagement as a community interface, while providing exceptional customer service.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated in a University or College program in Horticultural Technician, Landscape Technician, Environmental Technician, Turf Management, Agriculture, General Carpentry, or Rec and Leisure (or related field).
  • Ability to work in a team environment, accept and follow verbal and written instructions, complete duties to an acceptable level of quantity and quality with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to deal with the public courteously and effectively.
  • Good time management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Able to work outside in all weather conditions (hot, dusty, cold, and wet).
What We Offer
  • An estimated salary of $18.06 per hour.
  • A 40-hour workweek, Monday to Friday, with evenings and weekends as needed.
