We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Examiner to join our team at the Government of Alberta. As a Medical Examiner, you will play a critical role in assisting with or performing autopsies and surgical specimen examinations under the supervision of pathologists.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or optometry, and at least 5 years of experience in a related field. You will be responsible for removing organs and tissue specimens from bodies in the morgue as directed by the pathologist.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with or performing autopsies and surgical specimen examinations under pathologists' supervision
  • Removing organs and tissue specimens from bodies in the morgue as directed by the pathologist

In addition to your technical skills, you will also be required to have:

  • Specialty residency training
  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification Examination
