About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Concurrent Disorder Counsellor, Maximum and Multi-Level Security Units, Rehabilitation Specialist at the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). As a key member of our team, you will provide comprehensive psychosocial assessments and treatment services to individuals with complex mental health and substance use challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments of adults experiencing severe psychiatric and behavioral difficulties, including interviewing patients, family members, and community sources to identify strengths and deficits.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including evidence-based therapies and psychosocial group programs, to address substance abuse and addiction issues.
  • Provide direct treatment and support services to patients, including individual, group, and family therapies, and coordinate activities of self-help volunteer groups.
  • Develop community substance abuse treatment plans for patients upon their release and provide outreach dual diagnosis treatment and support services to Forensic Community Clinics and Concurrent Disorders Programs.
  • Provide consultation and training to adult Forensic Psychiatric Services and Concurrent Disorders Programs staff on concurrent disorder treatment and best practices.
  • Participate in BC Review Board hearings and respond to questions from Review Board members, legal counsel, and other participants.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in an Allied Health Discipline from a recognized program.
  • Three (3) years recent related experience in an addictions and mental health setting, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
  • Valid BC Drivers License.
