Job Summary

The Procurement Manager at AltaSteel will lead the Procurement Team and be responsible for the overall procurement program delivery while supporting leadership through employee development and client support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure efficient and effective procurement processes.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimize risks associated with procurement processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and competitiveness.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of procurement team members.
  • Monitor and analyze procurement metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimize procurement processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of procurement strategies with business objectives.
  • Develop and manage procurement budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Dynamics 365 is an asset.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, ERP, and computer skills.
  • Experience with former systems implementation is preferred.
  • Superior relationship-building and leadership skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the end-to-end process integration of procurement.
  • Commitment to fostering collaborative working relationships and ability to create positive relationships to establish rapport and influence with various interest groups and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional verbal/written communication skills.

Work Environment

  • Full-time permanent opportunity.
  • Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm.
  • Full-time in-office, in Edmonton, Alberta (no remote or hybrid).
  • Pre-employment alcohol and drug test required with zero tolerance policy.
