In this role, you will oversee guest services and ensure a high standard of service in addition to managing catering operations onboard our vessels.

The Role

• Supervise staff engaged in galley, food and beverage, retail, stateroom accommodation and passenger service
• Assign duties and ensure breaks and rest periods are scheduled
• Assign crew accommodation; check qualifications and make arrangements for extra staff as required
• Ensure staff are appropriately attired and adequately trained
• Monitor the level of service provided and ensure customer service standards are met
• Perform administrative duties such as staff time collection for payroll orders, planning and coordinating menus, completing records, reports and logs, processing mail, tracking and accounts for all revenue, vessel catering, retail and passenger assets
• Conduct regular safety checks of areas used by passengers and catering crew
• Ensure all catering and passenger service equipment is in working order
• Ensure adherence to emergency procedures, company policies and safe work practices
• Provide information to passengers about ferry schedules, routes and fares
• Assist and handle passenger complaints and incidents
• Keep track of problems on previous shifts in a log book and take corrective action
• Prepare bank deposits, deliver revenue to terminals and ensure the vessel is readied for the next sailing at the end of each shift
• Perform additional duties including arranging for equipment repairs, ensuring work is completed in accordance with safe work practices, liaising with WCB and insurance adjusters regarding passenger and crew incidents and ship security
• Provide mentoring to employees, participate in fire and boat drills and perform emergency duties as assigned

Requirements

You bring 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role preferably in the food service industry. A certificate or diploma in business, human resources or hospitality is an asset. A valid Seafarer's Medical, Food Safe Level 1 and Serving it Right Certificates are required and can be obtained upon receiving an offer of employment.
