Career Opportunity

As a Chief Steward at BC Ferries, you will oversee guest services and manage catering operations onboard our vessels. Your responsibilities will include supervising staff, assigning duties, and ensuring a high standard of service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff engaged in galley, food and beverage, retail, stateroom accommodation, and passenger service
  • Assign duties and ensure breaks and rest periods are scheduled
  • Ensure staff are adequately trained and appropriately attired
  • Monitor service levels and ensure customer service standards are met
  • Perform administrative duties such as staff time collection, menu planning, and record-keeping
  • Conduct regular safety checks and ensure equipment is in working order
  • Assist with passenger complaints and incidents
  • Prepare bank deposits and ensure vessels are readied for sailing

Requirements

You will require 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in the food service industry. A certificate or diploma in business, human resources, or hospitality is an asset. Valid Seafarer's Medical, Food Safe Level 1, and Serving it Right Certificates are required.
