Support Assistant for Handicapped Students in Drummondville Elementary School

At the Eastern Townships School Board, we are seeking a highly dedicated and compassionate individual to fill the role of Support Assistant for Handicapped Students.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing essential support to handicapped students in participating in various activities related to their education.

Job SummaryWe are looking for a Support Assistant who can work effectively with our team to provide individualized support to our students with special needs.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist students in moving from one location to another, including to and from transportation.
- Ensure students' personal hygiene is maintained.
- Supervise students during recess, lunch, meal periods, and recreation time.
- Assist teachers in communicating basic concepts of cleanliness and personal care, such as dressing, eating, and drinking.
- Assist students in preparing and carrying out pedagogical and student activities.
- Record observations concerning students' needs and behaviors, and may be required to inform teachers, parents, and other designated staff and give advice on measures specified in individual education plans.
In addition to these responsibilities, the successful candidate will also perform any other related duties as required.
RequirementsTo be considered for this position, applicants must meet one of the following two profiles:
- Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies in Assistance in Health Care Facilities.
- Hold a Secondary School Diploma, or a diploma or attestation of studies recognized as equivalent, and have one year of pertinent experience in areas requiring self-discipline, general concepts in psychology, and human relations skills.
Applicants must also hold a certificate dated no more than three years attesting to the successful completion of a standard first aid course of a minimum eight-hour duration, and a refresher course of a minimum six-hour duration updating the skills acquired in the previous course.
Above all, candidates must be fluent in both French and English (written and spoken).
We offer a competitive salary range of $23.85 -25.44 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
