About the Opportunity

The Department of Physics at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in Theoretical Quantum Condensed Matter Physics. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pursue independent and innovative research at the highest international level in Theoretical Quantum Condensed Matter Physics.
  • Establish an outstanding, internationally competitive, and externally funded research program.
  • Engage in undergraduate and graduate teaching, and contribute to the enrichment of undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Develop and maintain a strong research group, and mentor students and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Participate in departmental and university service, and contribute to the development of the Department of Physics and the University of Toronto.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Physics or a related field by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in research in Theoretical Quantum Condensed Matter Physics and in teaching Physics.
  • Ability to build a strong independent research program in quantum many-body physics, including computational and analytic approaches.
