Job Overview

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Service Trades Maintainer within our Niagara Operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform planned and emergency maintenance to support the operation of hydroelectric facilities.
  • Install, fabricate, commission, inspect, troubleshoot, service, and maintain equipment and components associated with generating units/stations and facilities.
  • Carry out rigging and craning, using both fixed and mobile cranes, and maintain and operate machines and shop tools required to carry out work assignments.
  • Operate forklifts and trucks, and perform lock-out / tag-out activities up to the level trained.
  • Conduct public safety inspections and maintenance activities to maintain effective control devices such as signage, fencing, booms, and buoys.
  • Accountable for the health, safety, and well-being of self and others, in accordance with technical operating procedures and standards.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years experience and/or skills in a variety of trades, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, welding, concreting, and general maintenance.
  • Experience with, and ability to work from blueprints, written specifications, and oral instructions.
  • Heavy Equipment Operator experience, specifically hands-on experience with excavators, backhoes, and skid steers.
  • Prior experience and knowledge in the operation of power and hand tools, and equipment related to the trade.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confining spaces.
  • Valid G Driver's License in good standing.
