Senior Radiochemist, Cyclotron Radiopharm Lab Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Radiochemist to join our team at the BC Cancer Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art cyclotron radiopharm lab and be part of a dynamic team that is dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care.
Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will have extensive experience in radiochemistry and a strong background in analytical chemistry techniques. They will be responsible for preparing and testing Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliant radiopharmaceuticals, coordinating the production of required quantities of radioisotopes from the cyclotron, and performing quality control tests.
As a key member of the team, the Senior Radiochemist will also assist with the review of standard operating procedures to maintain GMP compliance, troubleshoot technical equipment problems, and provide orientation to new staff members.
Responsibilities- Prepare radiopharmaceuticals for human use following established procedures and GMP guidelines.
- Coordinate the production of required quantities of radioisotopes from the cyclotron based on scheduled patient workload and external deliveries.
- Perform quality control measurements using various analytical chemistry techniques and equipment to verify the quality of raw materials and final products.
- Prepare reagents used in syntheses and QC of radiopharmaceuticals.
- Maintain raw material and consumable inventories as needed for daily radiopharmaceutical production.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences.
- A minimum of two years recent related experience in a pharmaceutical or GMP laboratory.
- Current certification for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (Class 7 Radioactive Materials).
- Experience working in a PET radiopharmaceutical laboratory would be an asset.
