About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Worker to join our team at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. As an Environmental Services Worker, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and functional environment for patients, families, staff, and visitors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning all units as assigned, including patient rooms and public areas. This will involve:

  • Maintaining a high level of cleanliness and organization in patient rooms and public areas
  • Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, equipment, and furniture
  • Operating various cleaning equipment, including Taski spray buffers, burnishers, auto scrubbers, and shampooers
  • Assisting with the maintenance of the physical environment, including moving and arranging furniture and changing curtains and drapes

In addition to maintaining a clean and safe environment, the Environmental Services Worker will also be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that the principles and practices that guide our work, including our mission, vision, values, and expected behaviors, are integrated within the services they provide
  • Providing excellent customer service to patients, families, staff, and visitors
  • Working collaboratively with other departments and teams to achieve our goals and objectives

We are looking for a candidate who is:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent work experience
  • Committed to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices, and organizational health
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Willings to travel to other sites, with access to a reliable vehicle
  • Competent in the operation of various cleaning equipment
  • Competent in other languages, with French being an asset

Hours

This is a casual relief position, with varied hours and shifts.

Compensation and Incentives

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive hourly rate of $19.26-$20.02, depending on experience.
