Job Summary

Seaspan ULC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Digital Ship Analytics Intern to join our Innovation team at Vancouver Shipyards. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day support to Engineers while assisting and coordinating specific data science related activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, test, and maintain data pipelines to ensure efficient and scalable data flow throughout the project lifecycle.
- Design, test, and implement machine learning models using Python and relevant libraries to solve real-world problems and improve decision-making processes.
- Perform exploratory data analysis, clean and preprocess data, and identify key features that will enhance the performance and accuracy of machine learning models.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and visualizations to clearly communicate data-driven insights, model performance, and project outcomes to technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

- Enrollment in a 3rd-year or later year of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related degree program.
- Demonstrated utilization of Python and common data science libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Seaborn, and Matplotlib.
- Experience in machine learning and data mining including libraries such as Scikit-learn and XGBoost. Experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch is a plus.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge and engineering skills through exposure to multiple class projects or co-op terms.
- Above average analytical skills and ability to learn quickly to gather, analyze, and synthesize data.
- Strong problem-solving skills, analytical abilities, and interpersonal skills that support business-oriented solution development.
