Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Ontario Produce and Agricultural Foods Representative to join our team at Encore Market Engagement. In this role, you will have the opportunity to promote the consumption of fresh Ontario produce and agricultural foods through merchandising activities.

About the Role

The Ontario Produce and Agricultural Foods Representative will be responsible for developing relationships with grocers and promoting the Foodland Ontario brand in grocery stores across your region. You will work closely with store managers and department heads to identify opportunities for merchandising and display ideas that showcase Ontario-grown produce and agricultural foods. Your passion and innovative thinking will drive results, and you will be expected to deliver on call coverage objectives, increase distribution and visibility of marketing materials, execute brand priorities, and build strong relationships with key store contacts.

Key Responsibilities

This is a part-time, long-term employment opportunity with flexible hours that suit your schedule. As an Ontario Produce and Agricultural Foods Representative, you will:
  • Build rapport and communicate effectively with Produce and/or Department managers.
  • Recommend and sell-in merchandising and display ideas that showcase Ontario-grown produce and agricultural foods.
  • Share information on Ontario commodities and enthusiastically promote the benefits of the Foodland program and brand.
  • Promote the Retailer Awards Program and its benefits, as well as the Grower Group Retail Display Contest and its benefits.
  • Share cross-merchandising and display ideas and photos with Department Managers.
  • Merchandise and measure linear footage of both seasonal Ontario and Imported commodities.
  • Record the display type/location of key Ontario products being tracked and plan strategically place and record all Foodland POS (point of sale material) to identify the seasonal Ontario products.
  • Maximize POS placement on Ontario products throughout the produce department, store entrances, checkout counters, other departments, and potentially farmers' markets, cafeterias, restaurants, and other locations throughout Ontario.
  • Remove or replace outdated or damaged POS as necessary and dispose in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Execute special projects and surveys as scheduled by Foodland or your Manager.
  • Share creative merchandising insights with Foodland team members/Manager.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualities and qualifications:
  • Previous sales and/or merchandising experience, preferably in the grocery channel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with store managers and department heads.
  • Passion for promoting Ontario-grown produce and agricultural foods.
  • Innovative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds and work in a physical environment.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and high-speed internet with WiFi at home.
