Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Burnaby Hospital, providing exceptional care to patients and families in the Medicine department. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing personalized care plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.

About the Role:

  • Assess patients and collect information from various sources to inform nursing diagnoses and develop effective care plans.
  • Collaborate with patients and their families/caregivers to develop and implement care plans, promoting person-centered care and empowering individuals to take an active role in their health and well-being.
  • Work collaboratively with the interprofessional care team to provide comprehensive care, including coordinating referrals to appropriate healthcare agencies and services.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families/caregivers on illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance, promoting self-care and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Demonstrate empathy, trust, and respect in all interactions, advocating for patients' rights and dignity.
  • Participate in research and quality improvement activities, identifying areas for improvement and contributing to the development of evidence-based practice.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families/caregivers, and healthcare professionals using verbal, written, and electronic communication means.
  • Ability to promote person-centered care, demonstrating empathy, cultural sensitivity, and patient advocacy.
  • Ability to integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources to problem-solve effectively.
  • Ability to teach and instruct patients and families/caregivers about topics essential to their health and well-being.

Estimated Salary: $45.00 - $65.00 per hour. The salary range has been estimated based on industry standards and location-specific factors.
