We are a local distribution company licensed by the Ontario Energy Board, providing electricity distribution excellence to approximately 23,000 customers in the Town of Halton Hills. Our mission is to deliver safe and reliable electricity while focusing on safety, reliability, competitive rates, financial metrics, conservation, environmental initiatives, community focus, and smart grid implementation.

This role reports to the Regulatory Affairs Officer and is responsible for ensuring business objectives are met. Key responsibilities include preparing monthly and annual regulatory journal entries, completing monthly unbilled calculations, reconciliations of distribution and deferral and variance accounts, and maintaining records to satisfy annual OEB reporting requirements including rate filings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Regulatory Objectives: Collaborate with the Regulatory Affairs Officer to achieve business objectives.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly and annual regulatory journal entries.
  • Unbilled Calculations: Complete monthly unbilled calculations and reconcile distribution and deferral and variance accounts.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records to satisfy annual OEB reporting requirements, including rate filings.
  • Settlement Claims: Process monthly settlement related claims with the IESO as required.
  • Power Bill Entries: Prepare monthly power bill entries and Statistics Canada reports.
Requirements:
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to conduct research, data analysis, and solve complex problems independently.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Multitasking: Ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of procedural controls and data validation techniques is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: An interest in electricity regulatory policy and compliance, and knowledge of the regulated Ontario electricity market, regulations, and other regulatory instruments is considered an asset.

The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in a regulatory or finance role, with experience with financial modeling and Enterprise Resource Systems (Great Plains or similar) being considered an asset. A post-secondary degree in Business or Accounting, or equivalent, and a recognized professional accounting designation or advanced standing towards obtaining an accounting designation (CPA designation preferred) are also required.
