Job Summary

New Flyer is a leading manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses, and we are seeking a skilled Vehicle Application Engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical correspondent and engineering representative for production contracts and sales opportunities.
  • Support the bids process from initial proposals through production, including change requests and configuration audits.
  • Identify, define, and manage technical configuration requirements and clearly communicate details to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify technical risks and opportunities and develop strategies to mitigate risks and act on opportunities.
  • Release initial Bills of Material (iBoMs) needed to build heavy-duty transit buses and coaches for a wide range of customer specifications.
  • Effectively manage and present project documentation.
  • Assign tasks to engineering designers to complete contract-specific design work.
  • Actively contribute to or lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and train new employees.
  • Serve as a checker for engineering change orders (ECOs) prior to release.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering design and project management.
  • Knowledge of Bills of Materials.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with enterprise database software and engineering product lifecycle management systems considered an asset.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and communicate engineering concepts.
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong attention to detail.
