Job Summary
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Nurse Specialist to join the Post Anesthetic Recovery team at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC.
About the Role
- Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill clients in post-anaesthetic recovery, working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Enhance the quality of life for clients and their families, promoting a client-centered approach to care.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care, leveraging expertise and knowledge to drive positive outcomes.
- Develop and maintain clinical competence, staying up-to-date with the latest best practices and research in critical care nursing.
- Participate in hospital committees and research projects, contributing to the advancement of nursing practice and patient care.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Completion of a recognized critical care nursing program or two years' recent, related critical care experience.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client-centered model of care.
- Thorough knowledge of the indications, actions, reactions, routes, dosages, and side effects of anaesthetic and other drugs used in critical care environments.
- Ability to assess and manage critical and life-threatening situations, responding promptly and effectively to emergencies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Basic computer literacy to operate a computerized patient care information system.
