The successful candidate will be responsible for creating strong broker relationships, providing meaningful customer service, and delivering strong commercial insurance solutions. Through the development of strong broker relationships, you will thoughtfully underwrite new and renewal business while actively engaging in the marketplace to enhance the Zurich Canada brand.
Key Responsibilities:- Serve as an advocate of Middle Market value proposition, focusing on improving the customer experience by understanding our customer's risks and offering the best end-to-end solution for their insurance needs.
- Develop and nurture broker networks related to mid-market customers, with a focus on target industries as outlined in our business strategy.
- Identify opportunities through local relationships, proactively seeking renewal and new account opportunities to add to the growth and profitability of our Middle Market portfolio.
- Use a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment, and pricing.
- Qualify accounts that align with our business strategy and the organization's appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity.
- Measure exposure and analyze opportunities to provide appropriate coverage, adhering to our risk and compliance processes.
- Use risk insights and analytical tools to drive informed decisions at the point of sale.
- Work within limits and delegated authorities, in conjunction with adherence to underwriting rules and guidelines, compliance protocols, and insurance regulations.
- Cross-sell other lines of business to increase product density with the account for a comprehensive Zurich solution.
- Demonstrate key aspects of portfolio management, considering performance metrics, data, and insights to improve the portfolio and drive diversified growth.
- Ensure strong partnership with UAs within the Underwriting Services team to ensure proactive engagement with brokers and best-in-industry customer service focused on timeliness and accuracy of quotes, policy issuance, and premium booking.
- Mentorship of less experienced underwriters and supporting training initiatives, as required.
- Hone individual skill set and product knowledge, demonstrating senior underwriting level expertise, to become a trusted advisor to middle market brokers and customers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with 4 or more years' experience in the commercial P&C underwriting area.
- Microsoft Office skills.
- French language skills.
- Verbal and written proficiency in the English language is required to facilitate communication with internal and external key stakeholders located outside of Quebec.
