About the Role:
The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer plays a crucial role in sustaining and enhancing the infrastructure that supports and delivers essential business applications and workflows globally. This position encompasses a wide range of technologies across various business units, collaborating with multiple teams to establish relationships that ensure a stable and efficient operational platform.
Success in this role requires a keen ability to delve into intricate technical details while maintaining a comprehensive perspective for managing significant incidents and delivering end-to-end solutions. You will lead and coordinate a task force of stakeholders across diverse technical teams to achieve permanent resolutions for major incidents. Strong communication and organizational skills are vital for success in this position.
Your primary focus will be on ensuring stability within daily operations, which necessitates a consistent approach to eliminate unnecessary complexities and simplify management processes.
As a member of our global server operations team, you will manage and support services hosted across various regions within the Microsoft Azure environment. You will also serve as an escalation point for fellow systems engineers and be responsible for mentoring and guiding team members.
In supporting a global environment, participation in an on-call rotation is required, involving collaboration with engineers across US and European time zones.
Qualifications:
We are looking for individuals who are accountable, innovative, and driven, with a knack for creative problem-solving. You should be able to visualize improvements, propose concepts, and follow through to implement solutions. Strong time management and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to maintain focus amidst various demands.
Key Competencies and Requirements:
- Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services in a systems engineering and operations context, primarily focusing on infrastructure and systems technologies.
- Experience in production server engineering and operational support within a global environment, predominantly Windows (80%) with some exposure to Linux (20%).
- Proficiency in creating and maintaining scripts using tools/languages such as PowerShell, YAML, KQL, bash, JSON, and Ansible to automate processes and enhance operational efficiency.
- Prior experience in deploying infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure as Code technologies like Terraform.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Attention to detail to comprehend requirements and adhere to established controls.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in designing and implementing Azure Monitor for proactive alerting to ensure environmental uptime.
- Familiarity with container support and orchestration in public cloud environments, including Docker, Kubernetes, and AKS.
- Knowledge of supporting and maintaining DevSecOps pipelines using Agile methodologies for cloud-native applications.
- Ability to collaborate with architecture teams to present and implement new ideas and solutions.
- Experience in defining and operating disaster recovery plans.
- Capability to create and maintain operational and control documentation.
- Experience working with Security and Compliance teams to demonstrate adherence to operational controls.
- Ability to identify inefficiencies and propose standards and automations to streamline processes.
- Understanding of operational costs associated with Microsoft Azure environments.
