Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dietary Aide to join our culinary team at Extendicare. As a valued member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality of food service to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences, maintaining proper serving temperatures and adhering to established time limits.
  • Assist cooks in cleaning and preparing uncooked food, such as salads, vegetables, and fruits, following basic instructions and procedures.
  • Clear plates and trays, load and operate the dishwasher, and clean pots, pans, and cooking utensils as per procedure.
  • Participate in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers, and adhere to established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assemble nourishment carts and stock unit kitchenettes, participating in facility meetings and attending in-service education programs as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Higher Academic Certification
  • Degree/Diploma in nutrition or Food Service Program is an asset
  • Previous dietary skills, knowledge, and experience with institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality food service environments is an asset
  • Ability to read and write in English, as well as understand simple verbal and written instructions in English
  • Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures
  • Successful candidate must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
