Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our team at Farm Boy. As a key member of our store management team, you will be responsible for assisting the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation and management of the store. This includes providing exceptional customer service, leading a team of retail specialists, and ensuring the store meets our high standards of quality and service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide superior customer service and support to customers and employees
  • Work closely with the Store Manager and Department Managers to achieve sales and operational goals
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of retail specialists
  • Ensure the store is properly maintained and operated, including inventory management, ordering, and quality control
  • Participate in community events and promote Farm Boy's community presence
  • Support the Store Manager in retail operations, including scheduling, payroll, and financial management
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including health and safety protocols

Requirements

  • Typically requires completion of a post-secondary program with an emphasis in business, plus 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible managerial experience in retail
  • Successful completion of a Public Health Food Handler certification, Smart Serve plus Level A First Aid and Basic CPR certification, or the commitment to complete within 6 months
  • Good knowledge of retail industry, food products, and superior standards of quality
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Ability to learn manual and automated systems/tools
  • Experience in working with various computer software programs, including Microsoft Office

Work Environment

  • Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines
  • Required to stand and walk for long periods of time during shift
  • Required to lift, carry, or handle heavy objects
