Job Summary

The Child and Youth Care Worker will provide support to students and staff at h?aah?uupay?ak School, a First Nations school that values language and culture. The successful candidate will work to ensure the social, emotional, and physical well-being of all children, and will be responsible for creating a safe and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to children with diverse needs, including those with social-emotional, physical, or cognitive challenges.
  • Develop and implement child-centered plans to promote education and life skills, using a strengths-based approach.
  • Assess children's needs using trauma-informed practices and participate in case-conferencing.
  • Maintain accurate records and increase awareness of community resources and family needs.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, families, and community members to achieve goals and promote positive relationships.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures, and represent the school in a professional manner.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with children with diverse needs, including those with social-emotional, physical, or mental developmental challenges.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practices and culturally competent approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to adapt to diverse needs.
  • Accuracy, confidentiality, and safekeeping of student information and agency records.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office and excellent organizational skills.
