This Recreation Program Assistant for Youth with Special Needs position involves providing 1-on-1 support to children and youth with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, ensuring a positive experience through fun and rewarding recreation and sport programs.

Key Duties:
  • Providing 1-on-1 and 2-on-1 support to children with special needs.
  • Assisting in developing program inclusion strategies.
  • Managing behavioural incidents and implementing redirection strategies.
  • Completing all necessary paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Acting as a resource for inclusive programming.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and/or Post-Secondary Education.
  • Educational background and work experience with children with disabilities.
  • Ability to work in English; bilingualism is an asset.
  • General experience in a camp setting is an asset.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to maintain calm in stressful situations.
  • First priority to campers' needs.
