Job Overview

A leading organization in the Ottawa region is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis. As a key member of the payroll department, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely bi-weekly high volume payroll processing, administering benefits and pension plans, and reconciling payroll accounts.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in payroll compliance and experience working with high volume payroll systems. They will be able to effectively communicate with employees, management, and external stakeholders, providing exceptional customer service while maintaining confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

- Ensure accurate and timely bi-weekly high volume payroll processing
- Administer and reconcile Benefits and Pension plans, record subsequent remittances
- Process WSIB & EHT remittances, CRA source deductions
- Reconcile Payroll accounts, working closely with the GL and appropriate Balance Sheets
- Input changes to employee payroll records maintained in the payroll system
- Process terminations/ROEs, T4s

Requirements

- 3+ years of experience in a similar role
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Designation is a strong asset
- Strong technical skills, ability to learn new software
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and ability to prioritize
- Excellent communication skills- written, oral, comprehension
- Excellent interpersonal skills, self-starter, collaborative
- Understanding & application of strict confidentiality
