About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Geospatial Data Specialist to join our team at Forbes Bros. Group of Companies. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing geospatial data to support our project initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Geospatial Data Management: Collect, organize, and maintain geospatial data related to transmission lines, including land use, topography, environmental factors, and infrastructure.
  • Data Analysis and Mapping: Create detailed maps and spatial analyses to support transmission line routing, design, planning, and construction.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with engineering teams to integrate geospatial data into design and construction processes, and communicate findings and analyses through reports, presentations, and visualizations to stakeholders and project teams.
  • GIS Tool Development: Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of GIS-based project tracking, KPIs, and project analytic tools.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Assist in the preparation of permits, regulatory submissions, and environmental assessments.
  • Field Support: Support field teams with geospatial data and mapping tools during site visits and inspections.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest GIS technology and trends to continuously improve processes and tools.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years' related experience and experience with geodatabase topologies and parcel fabrics along with online web-based products and FME.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geospatial Sciences, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, and/or successful completion of a diploma or degree in GIS/Geomatics from an institute of recognized standing. A master's degree is an asset.
  • Skills: Proficiency in mapping and analytics software platforms, as well as geospatial data integration tools and GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, un Earthed). Experience with Survey123 and Python coding would be considered an asset.
  • Personal Qualities: Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of management, employees, and clients to achieve desired results.
