Secondary Teacher's List

We are seeking qualified individuals to join our Occasional Teacher's List. As an Occasional Teacher, you will have the opportunity to work in various schools within the York Region District School Board.
Qualifications and ExperienceTo be considered for this opportunity, you must hold an Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certificate in good standing. You should also have qualifications at the Intermediate (Grade 9 and 10) and Senior levels (Grade 11 and 12).
Application Process:
Applicants can apply to any position that interests them, including Term Assignments (LTO) or Permanent vacancies, without being on our Occasional Teacher lists. Please submit your application on Apply to Education, including a cover letter, resume, and updated applicant profile. You may also attach relevant diplomas, certifications, and reference letters.
Selection Process:
Candidates will be shortlisted based on school preferences, specific qualifications, and/or availability. The selection process includes a review of required qualifications, interview, and assessment process, and reference checks. All employment offers are conditional on providing a valid criminal record check for the vulnerable sector.
References:
UCDSB requires your current and two most recent direct supervisors as references. If your experience is in a day-to-day occasional capacity, please ensure you list the length of time you worked for that Supervisor and whether the assignment was casual day-to-day or in a long-term occasional capacity.
Placement Teacher References:
If providing a Placement Teacher as a reference, The UCDSB will require confirmation and approval from the Principal at the Placement School that the deferred reference (Placement Teacher) is approved to provide reference on behalf of the Principal.
Interview Process:
Applicants selected for an interview will be invited to attend a virtual live interview via Microsoft Teams. Interviews typically include a panel of two (2) Hiring Managers.
