**Job Title:** Operational Leadership Specialist

**About the Role:

This leadership position will oversee the effective delivery of Public Works operational areas, encompassing Environmental Services, Fleet Division, Road and Sewer Operations, Technical Support, Field Services and Contracts, and Traffic Operations. The successful candidate will provide strong guidance and support to ensure seamless service delivery and budget control.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Reporting directly to the Commissioner, Infrastructure Services, this role will entail strategic planning, resource allocation, and performance monitoring across various Public Works departments.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining relationships with City Councilors, the Mayor, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • A key focus will be on developing and implementing customer-centric programs, promoting a culture of excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • The position will also involve Occupational Health & Safety duties, adhering to the Corporation's Health and Safety Program, and performing other related tasks as required.

**Requirements:**

  1. Must possess a Master's Degree in Science or Engineering, or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency, along with six (6) years of experience in a managerial capacity in an Operations environment;
  2. OR Must have a University Degree in Science or Engineering, or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency, and over ten (10) years of experience in a managerial capacity in an Operations environment;
  3. Must be a licensed member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario;
  4. Must have the ability to travel to off-site locations in a timely manner, holding a current, valid Driver's License if travel is by vehicle;
  5. Must have experience in Human Resources Management, Financial/Budget Management, and working in a unionized environment;
  6. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, negotiation skills, and the ability to establish effective relationships with all staff levels and elected officials;
  7. Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations;
  8. Will be required to complete and remain current as per the requirements of the Corporation's Management Certificate Program;
  9. Progression through the Art of Supervision Program Certificate or a supervisory program of a similar nature is considered an asset;
  10. The physical demands analysis indicates a sedentary level of work.
