Geotechnical Engineer

BBA Consultants is seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for performing geotechnical site investigations, analyzing data, and preparing technical reports. You will also be involved in reviewing and supervising civil and geotechnical construction activities, conducting field evaluations, and assessing risks of landslides.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out technical management and direction of geotechnical site investigations, supervise activities, and evaluate materials in the laboratory.
- Review and supervise civil and geotechnical construction activities, ensuring compliance with project objectives.
- Conduct field evaluations, assess risks of landslides, and perform mapping and reporting.
- Manage geotechnical instruments, prescribe, supervise installation, monitor, and record results.
- Analyze geotechnical characteristics, including slope stability, compacting, seepage, deformation, and other characteristics.
- Conduct soil mechanics and classification activities, assess slope stability, and design reinforcing and supporting structures.
- Ensure the technical quality of deliverables as a member of multidisciplinary project teams.
- Collaborate and participate in technical discussions with team members and clients.
- Participate in the process of preparing and presenting proposals.
- Master's degree in Mining Engineering, Technical Geology, or Civil Engineering, with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
- Ten or more years of relevant professional experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Strong academic background and solid understanding of soil mechanics.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills, technical-writing experience, and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well on a team.
- Mastery of geotechnical design software (FLAC, SLOPE/W, SEEP/W); other geotechnical software an asset.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites.
- Asset: bilingualism (English and French).
