Job Title: Teacher On Call

Seabird Island Band is seeking a qualified Teacher On Call to provide substitute coverage in various subjects ranging from K4-12. As a member of our interdisciplinary teaching team, you will work collaboratively with other professionals, students, family members, and community to provide students with holistic, culturally focused education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver instruction in keeping with the BC Ministry of Education Integrated curriculum.
  • Pursue a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing students, including lectures, demonstrations, and discussions.
  • Ensure that instruction meets the learning and development needs of a variety of students.
  • Develop lesson plans and curriculum preparation, including year plan preparation.
  • Undertake effective classroom management strategies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education.
  • Current practicing British Columbia (BC) Certified Teacher qualifications.
  • Solid knowledge of and demonstrated ability in addressing a wide range of academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of children of intermediate ages.
  • Ability to adhere to Oath of Confidentiality and Seabird Island Band Policies and Procedure.
  • Knowledge and respect of Stó:lō culture, traditions, and language is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with First Nations children and the community is considered an asset.
  • Valid BC Driver's License, Class 5.
