Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Quality and Patient Safety team as a Clinical Extern. This is an excellent opportunity for a nursing student to gain hands-on experience in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Quality and Patient Safety team with quality improvement projects and patient safety incident management processes.
  • Assist with administrative duties, including data collection and analysis.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Nursing students enrolled in a CNO-approved baccalaureate-nursing program in their final year of study.
  • Demonstrated evidence of excellent academic standing.
  • Completion of mandatory certifications, including extern orientation and program-defined requirements.
  • Strong interest in quality improvement and patient safety.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and designing software.
  • Experience working with healthcare information systems and electronic health records.

  • Works under the direct and/or indirect supervision of the Director of Quality and Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Consultants.
  • Requests assistance with assigned duties whenever needed.

Working Conditions

Clinical Externs will work part-time hours (minimum 15 to 24 hours per week) to a maximum of full-time hours (37.5 hours per week). The work schedule will be determined in accordance with operational requirements.
