Payroll and Benefits Specialist Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our team at Interac. In this role, you will manage the full cycle payroll for all salaried and part-time employees, including administering staff benefits, RRSPs, and other deductions.

You will also be responsible for preparing and processing third-party remittances, and ensuring compliance with CRA required remittances and reconciliations.

  • Process payroll bi-weekly, including reconciliation reports, payroll analysis reports, and electronic transmission.

  • Manage payment schedules for staff on parental leave and severance packages.

  • Verify all compensation, bonuses, and other payments/changes for staff in Workday.

  • Reconcile payroll register to RBC and Manulife reports, and transmit Manulife RRSP contribution files electronically.

  • Create payments for third-party invoices and garnishments as required.

  • Prepare and upload journal entries from Workday into JD Edwards Accounting System.

  • Investigate and correct payroll discrepancies, errors, and inquiries.

  • Reconcile Workday reports to CRA remittance reports and perform monthly payroll balance sheet account reconciliations.

  • Distribute annual T4s and T4As for all staff, and ensure accurate completion of Record of Employment forms.

  • Assist with various audits and ad hoc projects as needed.
