Senior Accountant Opportunity

MNP is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our Indigenous Services team. As a trusted advisor, you will provide expertise to empower Indigenous communities, organizations, businesses, and individuals in navigating a dynamic social, political, and economic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping, and tax engagements with precision and attention to detail.
  2. Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses, managing multiple files simultaneously and conducting inventory counts with efficiency.
  3. Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset acquisition and disposition, and payroll walk-throughs with clients, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  4. Summarize clients' current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other relevant reports.
  5. Assess and assure the appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, capital asset additions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and prepaid expenses.
  6. Review, investigate, and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  7. Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting to accounts, ensuring compliance with GAAP and IFRS.
  8. Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries, and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts, and highlights.
  9. Develop effective working relationships with clients while coaching and mentoring junior team members.
  10. Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities.
  11. Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary.
Requirements
  1. CPA designation.
  2. 2 to 4 years of relevant public accounting experience.
  3. Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  4. Experience working with accounting and tax software.
  5. Understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles.
