Job Summary

Norfolk County is seeking a highly skilled By-Law Enforcement Officer to join our team in the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer. As a key member of our Clerks and By-Law department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the enforcement of provincial statutes, local by-laws, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance and Enforcement
    • Investigate and resolve complaints and violations related to provincial statutes, local by-laws, and regulations.
    • Conduct on-site inspections and gather evidence to support enforcement actions.
    • Issue notices, orders, and other documentation as required.
  • Research and Analysis
    • Research and interpret provincial acts, regulations, and local by-laws to ensure compliance.
    • Analyze data and information to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Communication and Liaison
    • Communicate effectively with the public, other government agencies, and stakeholders.
    • Liaise with internal departments to ensure seamless coordination and collaboration.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all activities, investigations, and enforcement actions.
    • Prepare and submit reports as required.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Post-secondary education in a related field, such as Police Foundations, Law and Security, or Law.
    • A minimum of three years of experience in a related field, such as by-law enforcement, compliance, or regulatory affairs.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Valid Ontario driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and may be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
