About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist I to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for performing purchasing functions consistent with established policies and practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acquisition and procurement of routinely purchased supplies, equipment, and services within assigned work groups;
  • Researching and collating information to support procurement decisions;
  • Preparing requests for quotations and issuing purchase orders using pre-set templates and established rules;
  • Maintaining strong relationships with staff, management, and vendors through effective communication and customer service skills.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent;
  • Supply Chain Management courses;
  • 1-3 years of purchasing experience;
  • Intermediate understanding of purchasing fundamentals, including Logistics, Supply Chain Management (SCM), Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM);
  • Basic understanding of contract language and legal terminology;
  • Proficiency with MS office applications;
  • Keyboarding skills with a minimum of 30 wpm;
  • Ability to communicate in English clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff, management, and vendors;
  • Ability to produce a large volume of work with a high degree of accuracy;
  • Effective organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and strong attention to detail;
  • Oracle or other ERP system experience;
  • Client-focused and ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Demonstrates a high standard of work ethic in previous position with minimal errors;
  • Must be a self-starter, work with confidential information, demonstrate initiative, and be able to action assigned tasks;
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment which may include patient critical requests.

Education and Experience

  • Completion of a minimum 2-year post-secondary education in the field of Business or Supply Chain Management;
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered;
  • Healthcare and/or Public Purchasing/Supply Chain experience is an asset;
  • Relevant designations pertaining to supply chain management preferred.

Salary

The salary for this role is estimated to be around $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
