About the Opportunity:

Sovereign Insurance, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Co-operators General Insurance company, is seeking a highly skilled Communications Consultant to join its team. As a Communications Consultant, you will play a key role in leading the development of strategic communications plans and programs, applying your expertise in communication planning, project management, and writing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create strategic communication plans, including large-scale, cross-company, multi-functional, and multi-phased projects and initiatives.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate corporate and executive engagement communication events, including Sovereign Quarterlies, Sovereign Learns, and other touchpoints.
  • Lead the execution of all plan elements, ensuring programs and projects successfully deliver objectives, on time and on budget.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to leaders in the organization, including the development of key messages and positioning through organizational changes.
  • Work as part of a team to align corporate communication activities with strategy across the organization.
  • Write and edit content for a wide range of communication initiatives and mediums.

Requirements:

  • 5-7+ years of business experience providing communication consultation, planning expertise, and project management skills.
  • University degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related discipline.
  • Proven experience in communication planning and execution with demonstrated results in coordinating and leading all aspects of complex communication programs.
  • Experience leading the planning and execution of internal events and other channels/programs.
  • Highly skilled writing, editing, and research skills, with the ability to perform these tasks quickly and to deadline.
  • Familiarity with graphic design and ability to create impactful, well-designed PowerPoint decks and other material.
  • Strong judgement and interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to build relationships internally and work effectively with people at all levels of an organization.
