Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Human Resources to join our team at Interfor. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for providing strategic HR leadership and support to our Eastern Operations and Woodlands & Chief Forester teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Partnering: Collaborate with operational leadership to align HR strategies with business objectives and deliver operating results.
  • Labour Relations: Negotiate and administer collective agreements in Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick, ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
  • Corporate Interface: Serve as a key interface between operations and corporate HR, communicating and coordinating key requirements for the region.
  • HR Leadership: Participate in setting HR priorities and strategies for the region, driving business outcomes through effective HR practices.
  • HR Service Delivery: Ensure the efficient use of HR service delivery models to support business needs, driving productivity and employee engagement.
  • Talent & Succession: Develop talent and succession strategies to create robust pipelines of operational leadership, driving business growth and continuity.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal and external requirements, including provincial and federal regulations.
  • Culture Development: Partner with operations and corporate stakeholders to develop a high-performance culture centered on safety and operational excellence.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain trustworthy relationships with business leaders, driving operational and HR alignment.
  • Training & Development: Assess training needs and develop programs to support HR initiatives, including recruiting, employee coaching, and diversity/respectful workplace.
  • Communication: Liaise with other HR leaders to ensure consistent approach and delivery of programs, driving business outcomes through effective communication.
  • Problem-Solving: Anticipate, identify, quantify, and resolve problems in a timely and positive manner, driving business growth and continuity.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Collect, analyze, and report on key HR metrics, driving business decisions through data-driven insights.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, preferably in Management/Human Resources.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years of human resources experience directly related to the duties of the position.
  • Skills: Strong organizational and project management experience, with intermediate to advanced level proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Certifications: Active CPHR, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
  • Language: Intermediate to advanced level proficiency in English.
  • Travel: Ability to travel throughout the region and to Interfor corporate offices in Canada and the US.
