Senior Technical Lead, Infrastructure Standards and Design

Located in Ottawa, ON, this Senior Technical Lead position is an exciting opportunity to work with the City of Ottawa's Infrastructure & Water Services Department. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of City design and construction standards and guidelines.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in road and municipal design and construction standards. Proven leadership and supervisory experience are essential, as well as a valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain City design and construction standards and guidelines;
  • Oversight of project planning, design, development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation;
  • Act as a point of contact for developers, contractors, and consultants for explanation and clarification of published standards and specifications;
  • Provide geotechnical, environmental, and hydrogeological guidance and operational support to staff;
  • Conduct field visits, provide quality assurance reviews on construction materials, resolve construction challenges, and provide claims support.

Requirements

  • Completion of a university degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university;
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO);
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and City policies and procedures.

Salary Range

$99,812.44 - $121,444.96 annually, based on the province of Ontario's rates of pay.
