Mental Health Consultant Nurse

The Mental Health Resource Nurse is a key member of the Seniors Mental Health regional team and the interdisciplinary team within assigned facilities. This role provides expert mental health consultation, leadership, and education to promote recovery-focused care and mental health literacy among staff.
Responsibilities- Participate in systematic assessments and identify bio-psycho-social needs of residents/patients and families.
- Collaborate in developing patient care plans and implement goal-directed interventions.
- Provide consultation, assessment knowledge, and skills to assist staff in responding to psychiatric and mental health crises.
- Consult with families and initiate referrals to primary care providers and external agencies for mental health needs.
- Participate in orientation, preceptorship, and self-evaluation, as well as advocate for nursing standards.
- Support comprehensive individualized care with a recovery focus and promote mental health knowledge through research findings and best practices.
- Collaborate with clients, families, and stakeholders to identify needs, strengths, and available resources.
- Baccalaureate Degree in Psychiatric Nursing or equivalent.
- Eligibility for and maintenance of licensure to practice as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in Manitoba.
- Three years of relevant clinical experience in mental health within the past five years.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and successful completion of NVCI and ASIST.
- Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle.
