Job Summary

The Manitoba Government is seeking a highly motivated Facility Manager to oversee the operation and maintenance of provincially-owned and leased buildings and grounds. As a key member of the Asset Management Division, you will be responsible for ensuring that client departments have a safe, clean, and comfortable environment to carry out their programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of facilities, including human resources, budgeting, and capital assets.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of maintenance staff, ensuring that facilities are well-maintained and meet safety standards.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules, budgets, and capital plans to ensure the long-term sustainability of facilities.
  • Collaborate with client departments to understand their needs and provide solutions to meet their requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including the Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act and associated regulations.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of facility operations, including maintenance schedules, budgets, and capital plans.

Requirements

  • 5th Class Power Engineering certificate or a recognized Facility Management certification.
  • Experience in facility management, operations, and maintenance, including HVAC operation and maintenance, security systems, life safety systems, and direct digital control systems.
  • Supervisory experience in a client service environment along with highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices, procedures, and relevant safety policies and legislation.
  • Strong budgeting and financial skills, forecasting, monitoring, and reporting skills.
  • The ability to read and interpret a variety of building systems, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Experience with computer software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to plan, organize, and follow up.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in SAP or other preventive maintenance programs.

Working Conditions

  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including sitting, lifting, reaching, working at heights, and in confined spaces.
  • Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's License and be capable of travel within the district.
