ROLE OVERVIEW

NexGen Energy Ltd. seeks a strategic leader to oversee the technical aspects of its Rook I Project, encompassing metallurgy, process engineering, mine planning, and commissioning.

  • This role requires a strong understanding of underground and surface facilities design, with a focus on processing design for construction and operation.
  • The ideal candidate will oversee mine and mill design, ensuring optimal extraction methods and efficient resource utilization.
  • As Technical Director, you will lead and manage all engineering aspects of the Rook I Project, including civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, and environmental disciplines.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical leadership for facility design and integration, prioritizing processing design for successful construction and operation.
  • Oversee mine and mill design, focusing on optimal extraction methods and resource efficiency.
  • Lead and manage all engineering aspects of the project, ensuring accountability and excellence in civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, and environmental disciplines.
  • Apply controls hierarchy to mitigate health, safety, and environmental risks, ensuring compliance while meeting project requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for mine and process improvements, recommending technological advancements to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Assess potential technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure proactive management to minimize negative impacts.
  • Oversee commissioning phases, from pre-commissioning through project handover, ensuring a smooth transition.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments, including Project Controls, Procurement, Contracts, Construction, and Health, Safety, and Environment.
  • Contribute to mine planning by aligning with broader project goals and understanding execution impacts.
  • Ensure designs meet regulatory requirements and NexGen's financial and economic threshold criteria.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members, fostering collaboration and high-quality deliverables.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in engineering.
  • A minimum of 20 years of relevant experience in large-scale natural resource projects, with demonstrated success in similar leadership roles.

ESTIMATED SALARY: $250,000 - $300,000 per year
