Senior Geotechnical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This is a senior career position that will be comprised of office-based activities with occasional field visits, with opportunities for continued career growth within the company.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support and leadership on projects and for staff, including conducting technical reviews of calculations and analyses, as well as performing technical analyses where appropriate;
- Provide guidance, and where necessary, support in coordination, preparation of cost estimates, tender submissions, technical documentation, client reports, progress reports, project scheduling / resourcing, and meeting deadlines and budgets on projects;
- Scoping projects and assisting in the preparation of proposals;
- Supporting mentoring, coaching and training of staff;
- Help promote Thurber mission, vision, and values amongst Thurber staff.
- Active participation in the field on a project specific basis as dictated by the needs of the project to meet client expectations and project objectives;
- Manage projects and lead multidisciplinary teams and,
- Travel to project locations, as well as to Client offices and other Thurber Branch offices.
- Completion of a post-secondary program in Civil or Geological Engineering;
- Graduate Degree (M.Sc.) preferred;
- Relevant experience in the Geotechnical or Geological Engineering field. Local Canadian experience strongly preferred;
- Proficiency with spoken and written English language is required;
- Strong attention to detail;
- An effective communicator with strong writing skills;
- Class 5 Drivers license and comfortable driving mid to full-sized pickup trucks in urban, rural, and construction environments;
- Comfortable working in a variety of environments, including local and remote construction sites;
- Business development experience is an asset;
- Specialized experience in foundation analysis and design, dams, tailings or terrain analysis is an asset;
- Strong computer skills (i.e. spreadsheet and word-processing);
- Experienced in the use of specialized geotechnical software;
The estimated annual salary for this role is between $90,000-$120,000 CAD, depending on experience. We also offer health and dental coverage, a healthcare spending account, RRSP matching, and an Employee and Family assistance program with 24/7 support online or over the phone.
