Project Director Job Description

Mpa Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Project Director to join our client's Building and Operations team in Nova Scotia.

As a Project Director, you will be responsible for spearheading ambitious initiatives to meet and exceed project goals, execution, and workforce management. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure seamless execution of all projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage large-scale building and infrastructure projects, ranging from $1.5 million to upwards of $1 billion.
  • Proactively grow and maintain strong relationships with team members, trade partners, consultants, and clients to achieve project goals and vision.
  • Support project management teams to develop and drive the construction schedule, ensuring completion dates and milestones are met and/or exceeded.
  • Apply problem-solving skills to recommend innovative methods that increase effectiveness and efficiency to ensure project excellence and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with our first-class Quality Program.
  • Apply financial management experience to plan, manage, and respect project budgets, costs, and associated purchasing.
  • Act as a mentor and role model to project teams, providing coaching and guidance to help them advance in their careers.
  • Minimize project risk through effective risk management.
  • Compile and complete companywide project reports for executive teams and client groups.
  • Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety, and Environmental Protection on the project.

Requirements:

  • 8-10+ years of experience working on large-scale construction projects.
  • University degree/diploma in Engineering or related field.
  • Strong business acumen and knowledge of project management methodologies, financial management, Canadian building codes, and associated legislations.
  • Experience in the construction industry with a strong knowledge of project methodologies, financial management, as well as building codes and associated legislations.
  • Strong ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve client, project, and technical issues.
  • Previous experience with scheduling software.

Additional Assets:

  • Experience working on a variety of large-scale government projects.
  • Fluency in both official languages written and oral (English and French).
