About the Opportunity

The Faculty of Management at Dalhousie University invites applications for a SSHRC Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Prosperity and Economic Reconciliation. The successful applicant will be appointed in a tenure-stream position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in one of the eight departments in the Faculty based on disciplinary fit.

Research Focus

The Chair will bring their expertise and passion to conduct research motivated by the challenges faced by Indigenous communities and will bring Indigenous-led knowledge and value to communities. They will hold expertise in a social science with focus on topics related to prosperity of Indigenous communities, where prosperity is understood in a broad sense to include the interrelated aspects of economic rights and advancement, strong social fabric, and relational well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct research in Indigenous prosperity and economic reconciliation, with a focus on topics related to economic rights and advancement, strong social fabric, and relational well-being.
  2. Develop and implement research projects that address the challenges faced by Indigenous communities and bring Indigenous-led knowledge and value to communities.
  3. Collaborate with the Atlantic Indigenous Economic Development Integrated Research Program (AIEDIRP) at the Atlantic Policy Congress of First Nations Chiefs Secretariat Inc (APC) to advance Indigenous-led research and development.
  4. Hold expertise in a social science discipline and have an in-depth understanding of the academic and practical importance of core documents, such as the Truth and Reconciliation Reports and the United Nations Declaration of Rights of Indigenous People.
Requirements

Applicants must hold or be close to completion of a PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant social science discipline. The position is designated for applicants Indigenous to Turtle Island.
