Job Summary:

First Student Canada-Transco is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Bus Monitor to join our team in Aylmer, Ontario. As a Bus Monitor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe transportation of students to and from school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the welfare of passengers while on route and communicate any issues with the driver.
  • Assist in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Help students load and unload the bus safely and efficiently.
  • Cooperate with school personnel, students, and parents to ensure a smooth and safe transportation experience.
  • Attend all safety and training meetings to stay up-to-date on the latest procedures and protocols.
  • Conduct emergency evacuations from the bus, including the use of emergency doors.
  • Clean the interior of the bus regularly to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Assist the driver when necessary to safely direct the vehicle backwards.

Requirements:

  • Good verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with students, drivers, and school personnel.
  • Attention to detail to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers.
  • Early morning availability to accommodate school schedules.
  • Judgment and problem-solving skills to handle unexpected situations.
  • Ability to manage high levels of stress and pressure in a fast-paced environment.
